Placenta Encapsulation Services

Our Service

PLACenta ENCapsuLAtion

The placenta is a beautiful organ that is responsible for growing a healthy baby. It’s also the only organ that grows within another organ. Amazing! Find out how placenta encapsulation can help you!

Benefits

WHat'S in the Placenta and how can Encapsulation help you?

Your placenta is full of good hormones and nutrients which are vital to postpartum healing and restoration. Ingesting it helps your body to regulate and transition after you’ve delivered your baby. Here are some of the most commonly reported benefits:

Safety

THE WorkSpace

Every single surface in our workspace is cleaned with a hospital-grade disinfectant solution and then again with soap and hot water prior to placenta preparation and then again after. We adhere to all OSHA and EPA standards for cleaning and disinfection to ensure each client stays safe.

OUR Equipment

We use only disposable and medical grade stainless steel equipment. Our non-disposable equipment is immersed and scrubbed in hot soapy water, rinsed thoroughly, soaked in a hospital grade disinfectant for 20 minutes, and then rinsed and dried. This process is in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards and is intended to eliminate the transfer of bloodbourne pathogens and STIs. We use disposable gloves, cutting boards, and aprons.

Refrigeration and Storage

We always ensure that the placenta stays refrigerated at a temperature of 41 degrees or less prior to the encapsulation process. This eliminates the opportunity for bacteria to grow. We will also only have one placenta in our possession at a time to avoid cross-contamination.

Pathology

If your placenta must go to pathology due to hospital policy or special circumstances, request that they only take a small piece of it for testing and leave the rest with you. Once an entire placenta has been sent to pathology, we cannot safely encapsulate it because there is no guarantee of the following:

  • The placenta hasn’t come into contact with any chemicals

  • The placenta hasn’t been placed on contaminated surfaces

  • The placenta has been kept at 41 degrees or lower

  • The placenta wasn’t accidentally switched out with someone else’s.

Methods of Placenta Preparation

We offer multiple ways to prepare your placenta for consumption. Our methods include capsules, tinctures,  salves, smoothies, and herbal sitz bath sets.

Raw Capsule Preparation Method

  • The placenta is NOT steamed prior to dehydration
  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 118 degrees
  • Dehydration takes approx. 14-24 hours
  • The RAW method is the most potent. It offers the highest iron content and the biggest energy boost. You will get the highest yield of capsules using this method.
  • Contraindicated for those who are sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants, have suffered from depression/anxiety prior to pregnancy, or test GBS+
  • Average yield: 182 capsules*

Balanced Method

  • Placenta is NOT steamed prior to dehydration
  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 160 degrees
  • Dehydration takes approx. 8-14 hours
  • The Balanced method offers a more moderate flow of energy and hormones. Due to the high dehydration temperature, there is greater protection against bacteria
  • Contraindicated for those who test GBS+
  • Average yield: 157 capsules*

Subtle Method
(TCM-Inspired)

  • Placenta is lightly steamed prior to dehydration
  • Placenta fully dehydrated at 145 degrees
  • Dehydration takes approx. 6-9 hours
  • The Gentle method offers a very gradual energy and hormone release. This method yields the least number of capsules due to steaming beforehand. Due to the high dehydration temperature, there is greater protection against bacteria.
  • Average yield: 138 capsules*

Additional Preparation Methods

Tincture Remedies for Prolonged Use

Tinctures are meant for energy, transition, stress, and hormone stabilization and are therefore great for returning cycles and menopause. They can be given to a baby, 6 months or older for teething and transition. Tinctures can also be used by the biological mother and daughter during hormone changes (menopause, menstrual cycles). The tincture is made from a thumbnail size piece of raw placenta and 100-150 proofs of alcohol, aged for 6 weeks postpartum, and then strained. It is stored in an amber glass dropper bottle.

Placenta Salves

Salves can be used postpartum for hemorrhoids, tearing, burns, eczema, diaper rash, sunburns, and skin irritation. Salves are also used to heal C-section incisions after the wound has closed. They lessen scarring, itching, and discomfort. They’re safe for all ages as long as there are no skin allergies.

Placenta Smoothie (available for
home-births only)

Smoothies are prepared and given to the mother directly after delivery. A small piece of raw placenta is placed in a blender with your choice of organic fruits, veggies, juice and yogurt. Smoothies are very helpful for the first couple of days after delivery because they give a quick boost of energy which the mother desperately needs, especially after a long labor. They’re raw so they’re more potent and effective. The best part: YOU CAN’T TASTE THE PLACENTA!! (we know this from experience…)

Herbal Sitz Bath

Sitz baths are very beneficial in the few weeks following delivery. They help the mother heal and alleviate soreness and swelling. A personal sitz bath herbal brew is prepared based on many factors including the length of labor and delivery, hemorrhoids, and degree of tearing.

Additionally, ensuring that proper sanitation and disinfection procedures are followed is a crucial part of encapsulating your placenta so make sure that you use ONLY a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist.

You can put it in a zip-top bag and refrigerate it or put it in a cooler on ice within 4 hours of delivery.

You'll just need to text your specialist when you're in labor and again once you've delivered. Your specialist will give you an estimated pick-up time and pick your placenta up from your place of delivery. Then they'll drop everything back off to you once it's ready!

Yes you can! There are no contraindications for c-section deliveries, but there are a few handling differences. Your specialist will go over the details regarding planned and unplanned c-sections with you prior to delivery.

Research

“Powdered Placenta Hominis was used for 57 cases of insufficient lactation. Within 4 days, 48 women had markedly increased milk production, with the remainder following suit over the next three days.”

Bensky/Gamble. 1997. Materia Medica, Eastland Press, 549

“Giving…placenta to a new mother following birth has become standard protocol among a growing number of midwives in the United States. By nourishing the blood and fluids, endocrine glands and organs, Placenta will …reduce or stop postpartum bleeding, speed up recovery, boost energy and relieve postpartum blues.”

Homes, Peter. 1993. Jade Remedies, Snow Lotus Press, 352

“It has been shown that the feeding of desiccated placenta to women during the first eleven days after parturition causes an increase in the protein and lactose percent of the milk… All the mothers were receiving the same diet, and in the second set 0.6mg of desiccated placenta was fed three times a day throughout the period. Certain definite differences in the progress of growth of the two sets of infants are to be observed. It is evident that the recovery from the postnatal decline in weight is hastened by the consumption of milk produced under the influence of maternally ingested placenta.”

Homes, Peter. 1993. Jade Remedies, Snow Lotus Press, 352

“All patients were given desiccated placenta prepared as previously described (C.A. II, 2492) in doses of 10 grains in a capsule 3 times a day. Only those mothers were chosen for the study whose parturition was normal and only the weights of those infants were recorded whose soul source of nourishment was mothers’ milk. The growth of 177 infants was studied. The rate of growth is increased by the ingestion of the placenta by the mother… the maternal ingestion of dried placenta tissue so stimulates the tissues of the infants feeding on the milk produced during this time, that unit weight is able to add on greater increments of matter, from day to day, than can unit weight of infants feeding on milk from mothers not ingesting this substance.”

CLient LOVE

HEAR FROM OUR WONDERFUL CLIENTS

I’m so glad I got my placenta encapsulated with Arukah! The process was simple and I got my pills quickly and delivered to me which was great. I got a cord keepsake and placenta print as well and this is the first cord keepsake that I’ve gotten that I haven’t been like, “so what do I do with this now?” because it’s so lovely and sweet. I could tell that my placenta pills helped me with my supply and helped me to not have as drastic a drop in my hormones. I haven’t felt as tired or as emotional as my last postpartum when I didn’t have my placenta encapsulated.

I love my placenta pills! I’ve had Ashley encapsulate all three of my babies’ placentas. She picked my placenta up and dropped my capsules back off each time and it only took a couple of days. She’s always available to answer questions and her dosage instructions were very thorough so I’m never confused about how many capsules to take and when. I always notice a difference when taking my capsules as well. Love Ashley!
